IT Network & Software Administrator

We are a small but growing, dynamic group of businesses in Barre, Vermont, seeking a motivated and detail-oriented ON-SITE IT Network & Software Administrator to join our team. Job Overview: As a IT Network & Software Administrator, you will play a key role in managing and maintaining the network infrastructure for our company. You will oversee both hardware and software systems, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. This role also involves researching and implementing new software solutions to enhance workflow, as well as maintaining and upgrading existing hardware and software systems. You will be the main point of contact for other employees with any network or computer-related issues, ensuring timely resolution. Additionally, you will serve as the primary liaison for any off-site network administrators to address advanced technical and network issues. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain all Servers (internal) and shared cloud file systems.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including both hardware and software systems.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for internal employees regarding network or computer issues and provide on-site technical support.
  • Conduct research on new software solutions to improve internal workflows and enhance productivity.
  • Implement software solutions and upgrades based on company needs.
  • Regularly maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade existing hardware and software.
  • Operate and maintain Microsoft Office 365 to support day-to-day business operations from desktop apps, to SharePoint and SSO
  • Collaborate with other network administrators (off-site) for escalated technical issues, troubleshooting and network infrastructure/monitoring.
  • Monitor and ensure network security and data integrity.
  • Manage and audit MFA/2FA
  • Assist with network setups, configurations, and hardware installations.
  • Maintain Routers (5), VPN (point-to-point and dial-in) and high-speed switches – monitoring performance and reliability
  • Manage 4 sites via remote tools and support travelling employees.
  • Document all network configurations, documentation and operating procedures.
  • Perform quarterly Audits on the entire network.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong understand of network infrastructure and software administration.
  • Hardware maintenance and troubleshooting experience (Assessing and resolving performance issues, installing Operating Systems, new hardware).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience with Windows Server 2022, Hyper-V, RDS, NAS, VPN and Routers
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to Think-outside-of-the-Box
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills- oral and written- and the ability to collaborate with both internal staff and external support if necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Document network infrastructure, installations and fixes. Create user guides. Label equipment. Maintain password.
  • Previous IT and network experience is necessary – additional ongoing training will be provided for the right individual.
