Sr Indirect Tax Accountant

Overview

Join our team as a Sr. Tax Accountant, where you’ll play a key role in keeping our organization compliant and financially strong. In this collaborative role, you’ll manage state and local tax filings, partner with cross-functional teams, support audits, and help shape smart tax strategies in a fast-paced, supportive environment. *Salary range: $50k - $69k based on experience

Responsibilities

Prepare, review and file monthly, quarterly and annual fuel tax filings in compliance with multiple regulatory agencies Analyze state and local fuel tax laws, advise on new product/service taxability, and support effective tax strategies Assist with fuel audit requests, gather documentation, and coordination Research and communicate issues to store accounting, fuel accounting and help desk to ensure accurate collection and accounting for fuel tax accruals and related ledger activity Responsible for general ledger entries and reconciliations of assigned fuel tax liabilities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices Communicate frequently with management team, field operations, Regulatory Agencies, vendors, suppliers and other necessary outside organizations in respect to assigned areas Conform and adhere to internal controls over fuel tax accounting procedures as set forth by upper management Interfaces frequently with various levels within the organization

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) Advanced Excel skills (i.e. v-lookups, sumifs, pivot tables) Ability to multi-task and complete projects within specific deadlines Strong computer, presentation and organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Detail oriented with excellent time management skills *This is not an exhaustive list of all job duties and requirements and may change based on business necessities.
